The Joy of Christmas

We love Christmas, and we celebrate it with great joy. For many of us, we cannot imagine a sorrowful Christmas. And yet, there are some circumstances that deprive some people of the joy of Christmas. One, for example, is loneliness. Loneliness is ugly all the time, but on Christmas day, it is almost unbearable. Christ knew that the days would come when loneliness would try to overcome His disciples. “I will send you the Comforter” He promised them, and He kept His promise. The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, never lets someone’s cry go unheard. Is there a better time than Christmas to ask the Lord to send the Holy Spirit to dwell in your heart? 

The opportunity we have today is great. We must be concerned with the purpose of Christ’s birth. Put yourself in the stable of Bethlehem and you will see the greatness of God’s love for the sinful world. “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The purpose of the incarnation of Christ is to lead man to the path of truth and to save him from sin. Christ was born, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross to bring redemption to those who believe in Him. This is the purpose of Christ’s birth in this world. And whoever believes in Christ will have eternal life. This is the true and real joy that Christmas reminds us of every year.
